The embedded content feature allows conceptboard users to add external content to their boards via the insert menu. This feature brings new functionality to the boards, without the need of building fully native CCB features. For example, users are now able to enter a spreadsheet file via Embedded content and use it as a table.
ℹ️ Plan and Role restrictions
Embedded content is available for Premium, Business, Enterprise or Education plans.
Team members with editor board access rights can embed content. Reviewers and readers can only see the content inserted by editors on the boards. To know more about Board roles consult this page.
What's embedded content?
The embedded content feature uses iFrames to display content from external applications on a board.
iFrame stands for inline frames - by using a URL or an embed code, it is possible to embed third-party elements on boards, such as documents, audio files, and online videos.
How to embed content?
Important note: Embedding is only possible for publicly shared content i.e. URLs that are publicly available. Any URLs that lead to an intranet, locally hosted file, etc. cannot be embedded.
To embed content from an external application:
-
Select Embedded content from the insert menu
-
Type or paste the URL or embed code into the field provided
-
Select Insert and the content will be inserted to the board
Enable embedded content on Team settings
This feature must be activated by the team administrator, as it is disabled by default. The team admin must navigate to the team settings page and scroll to the bottom to activate it.
Allow Embedding Only Specific Domains
Team Administrators can manage a list of allowed domains for embedded content in the team settings.
- If the list is empty, all domains will be allowed for embedding.
- To restrict domains, add the allowed domain names to the list, separating each with a comma.
For example, adding the domain youtube.com to the list will block all other domains apart from Youtube.com.
Important note: Already existing embedded content on any boards will be disabled if its domain is not included in the allowed list.
Supported resources
Supported online resources and formats are listed in the Embedded content panel:
These are all the applications/websites that Conceptboard has formally tested. Others may function via embedding, but Conceptboard cannot vouch for their functionality nor the extent thereof.
Important note: Please be aware that some resources support embedding via a URL, some via an Embed Code, and some via both:
- Youtube - Supports URL and Embed Code
- Vimeo - Supports URL and Embed Code
- Giphy - Supports URL and Embed Code
- Microsoft 365 - Supports Embed Code
- Google Suite - Supports URL
- Figma - Supports Embed Code
- AdobeXD - Supports Embed Code

Embed content from Microsoft 365

- Open a Microsoft 365 file of choice (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and navigate to the left menu.
- Click on Share, followed by Embed
Some slight modifications might be needed in the Embed window, depending on the Microsoft app. After making any changes necessary, copy the Embed Code and paste it into the Embed content field on the Conceptboard board.

Host a PDF via a URL
Services like Google Drive and Microsoft Sharepoint allow you to share a PDF via a link. Ensure the PDF has the correct settings to be shared or viewed by Conceptboard. This link should be used to insert the PDF onto a board.Google Drive example: the link of a document can be copied via the top right menu of its thumbnail
