How to Add and Edit Text

Adding Text via Text Tool

The most straightforward way to add text to a board is through the text tool. You can see this tool as a [T] sign in the toolbar. By simply selecting this tool and marking the text field on the board, you can easily start typing.

Adding Text to a Sticky Note

Another convenient way to use text on the board is to write it on a Sticky Note. Just as the text tool, Sticky Note sign can be found in the toolbar. Treading the path already walked, you'd need to select the token from the toolbar and create a Sticky Note on the board. You can now start typing.

Adding Text to a Shape

Shapes can also hold text. After selecting the tool in the toolbar, you can add text to a shape by simply double-clicking on the shape and inserting your text.

Adding Text to an Icon

Icon library can be accessed via the [+] Sidebar. Click the plus [+] sign in the upper left corner of the board, then "insert Icon".

Here you can find a library of over 8600 Icons. You can look through the 18 available Icon packs and 4 different Icon styles or use the search bar. To insert an Icon, simply drag & drop it onto an empty area of the board.

You can now add text to the Icons by double-clicking on the Icon or pressing enter while the item is selected.

Text Editing: Text Styles

To make your text more appealing, you can:

  • apply Text Styles via Keyboard Shortcuts

  • created numbered and bullet point lists via Keyboard Shortcuts

Supported Text Styles:

Conceptboard boards support the following Text Styles: Bold, Italic and Underline

Objects that support Text Styles:

Text Styles can be applied on Sticky Notes, Shapes, Text and Icons. To apply a Text Style, select an object and activate the text edit mode with a double click (when the text edit mode is enabled, the text cursor starts blinking after the last character), then select the text and use 1 or more keyboard shortcuts to apply the styles.

Available Keyboard Shortcuts:

  • Apply the Bold style: Select the text and press CMD/CONTROL + B

    • To remove the style, select the text with Bold and repeat the shortcut CMD/CONTROL + B

  • Apply the Italic style: Select the text and press CMD/CONTROL + I

    • To remove the style, select the text with Italic and repeat the shortcut CMD/CONTROL + I

  • Apply the Underline style: Select the text and press CMD/CONTROL + U

    • To remove the style, select the text with Underline and repeat the shortcut CMD/CONTROL + U

  • To apply more than one style: Select the text and use the shortcuts for the styles you wish to apply

Fonts that support Text Styles:

Applying Text Styles on iOS 16 (or later):

Text styles can be applied on mobile devices using iOS 16 (or later).

To apply a text style, select the text and choose a style from the options offered on the native keyboard. The strikethrough style is not supported on our boards.

Adding Lists:

Concepboard boards support numbered and bullet point lists.

Objects that support Text Styles and List Formats:

Lists can be created on: Sticky Notes, Shapes, Text and Icons. To create a new list, use the available shortcuts:

  • To start a numbered list type 1.and press SPACE.

    • To close the list and return to regular text, press ENTER twice.

    • To add the numbered list style to an existing paragraph, place the text cursor before the first character, type 1. and press SPACE.

    • To remove the numbered list style from a paragraph, place the text cursor before the first character and press BACKSPACE.

  • To start a bullet point list type *and press SPACE.

    • To close the list and return to regular text, press ENTER twice.

    • To add the bullet point list style to an existing paragraph, place the text cursor before the first character, type * and press SPACE.

    • To remove the bullet point list style from a paragraph, place the text cursor before the first character and press BACKSPACE.
